Meet Your Hosts
Patsy is a social butterfly. Growing up, her parents always entertained–whether it was important business guests from out of town or simply family and friends. Through her father’s work, Patsy lived in Europe and on various islands of the South Pacific, and as a young girl, she would accompany her father as he took guests around showing the sites and projects. She watched her mom prepare menus and musical entertainment for the guests. There was always music and dancing to top off the evening. Patsy’s uncle ran a Family Tours and Travel Company as well. So you can say that hospitality is in her blood. Patsy feels that all her life experiences have led her to this point of hosting at the Villa. Creating a great experience for others to enjoy is her and her husband David’s number one goal. We love meeting new people from all over the world. David grew up in the Bay Area. His Father was a Vaudeville Entertainer from the age of 4. From the 1920’s, his father, known as “Pee Wee Cole”, sang and played his famous bass on the radio and traveled to various night clubs up and down California with his band. David’s love of music originates from his father’s career. David moved up to the foothills in the late 70’s after college and worked for the Forestry Nursery in Camino before starting his near 30 year career in the medical field at Marshall Hospital. His mental therapy and zen is gardening, toiling the soil, seeing his hard work bearing fruit, hiking the many trails near the forks of the American River, going to Open Mike and listening to local artists discover their muse. David is the yang to Patsy’s ying. Patsy, on the other hand, not only loves entertaining, she loves interior designing, making old things new again, anything eclectic, history, discovering roads never traveled, ghost towns, she’s curious and loves to find out about people and buildings and their story. Together they have four grown children and five grandchildren who are the joy in their lives. Their hope is that when you stay at the Villa, it will be a restful retreat to relax. If you wish for quiet, it is yours. If you want an adrenaline rush, hop on board and ride the rapids with one of the local rafting companies. And when you leave, you’re only thought will be planning your next trip back to the Villa Florentina.
Meet The Owners
Adam and Angela believe in dreams, happiness, family and friends. They have found that Villa Florentina is a unique place that seems to nurture each of these beliefs. They are excited to host guests that care deeply about family and friends and want to come together to share goals and to dream of possibilities. The tranquil grounds of Villa Florentina seem to strip away the worries and distractions of everyday life and bring people back to the things that matter most. That is why Adam and Angela love Villa Florentina and are looking forward to being your hosts.
Adam grew up in Woodland Hills, CA and spent the early part of his life working in horticulture and landscape. His Mother owned a flower shop, and he spent many weekends helping to make special events look beautiful. These experiences gave Adam a special appreciation for plants, flowers and the outdoors. Adam enjoys exploring all the wonderful things the local area has to offer. Living close to the river has helped Adam become an avid rafter and kayaker. Ask him about some of his adventures. Outside of being responsible for Villa Florentina, Adam owns and manages the investment management firm WealthGuard Advisors, Inc. located on Main Street in downtown Placerville and is involved in many local civic organizations.
Angela spent most of her youth growing up in South Lake Tahoe and has a mother that is an accomplished artist. When Adam brought Angela back to El Dorado County, she was determined to never live in the snow again. So they started laying down their roots below the snowline in the Placerville/Coloma area. Ask Angela about her ancestors that were in the area at the beginning of the gold rush. Angela is an avid reader, and you can find her almost daily at the gym in group exercise classes with her friends.
Adam and Angela were married in 1992 and have been blessed with three handsome sons and a beautiful daughter. They look forward to helping you discover the magic at Villa Florentina.
What People are Saying
Villa Florentina is in another world… the world of serenity! The interior spaces of the Villa are just as impressive as the outside – beautifully appointed with perfect attention to detail. The dressing space for the bride is very convenient and spacious. Our favorite spot was the second balcony overlooking the Plaza, the dance floor, and the fantastic Italian Market Lights which will gently illuminate the party area.
This place is clean, crisp and very ‘Italian’. I really adore their space (can you tell?). Oh, and they have an outside fire pit! How cool is that? I wish I could articulate just how special this place is.
It seems to me that this place is still a hidden gem, but it surely won’t be for long. If I were you, I would book a stay or an event here before it blows up 🙂
As a caterer it’s my favorite places to work! An amazing venue for 25 or 200. Met Loren this year and have truly enjoyed working with him. Has everything my clients are looking for in an event space. Beautiful Tuscany Estate. Beautiful guest rooms for the bride and groom. Looking forward to many more events at Villa Florentina!
I recently went to an event at Villa Florentina. It was gorgeous! I drove in the gates, through the olive orchard, and up to the most stately Italian villa I’ve seen in Northern California. I was impressed at first glance. Given the rural area, I thought I might have to find parking on the side of a dirt road somewhere, but there was a large gravel drive on one side of the property that had to have enough parking for 50 cars. Super convenient. I made my way up to the home and was again impressed with the large circular plaza and beautiful terraces and lawn. It was the perfect location surrounded by hills with the soothing sound of the river in the background.
